Submissions

SUBMISSIONS FOR FALL 2026 OPEN SOON!

The submission deadline is October 7th, 2026 at 11:59 pm, with no exceptions! 

Submissions are accepted via Google Form:

  • Acceptable genres include Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry, Drama (Playwriting and Screenwriting), and Art.

  • DO NOT include your name anywhere in or on the piece itself. Please submit your work with the followng file naming format: [work name]-[submitter name]-[genre]

  • POETRY is limited to 5 pages of poems.

  • ART is limited to 5 pages of work, which should span between one page or two, making up a full spread. We do not accept work with multiple unrelated drawings on one page. At this point in time we do not accept graphic story submissions.

  • NONFICTION & FICTION are limited to 2k words. You may submit an excerpt of a longer piece. Fiction and Nonfiction pieces should be double spaced.

  • DRAMA is limited to 8 pages and should be in proper format for either playwriting or screenwriting, including font. You may submit an excerpt of a longer piece. 

  • Written work should be submitted as a Word Document (DOCX.). Art pieces should be sent in as a .jpg, .tiff, or .eps.

  • The author/artist may submit in multiple genres. If you have submissions for multiple genres please fill out a separate Google Forms for each genre. 

  • Submissions will only be accepted from current SUNY Oswego students.

 

All submissions are anonymous once sent to genre editors. In order to avoid favoritism, editors familiar with a piece are asked not to vote on it and current editors are also ineligible to submit. We will not accept previously published works, including self-published novel excerpts. 

Exclusive Opportunity

The inaugural edition of the GLR was published in November 1974, cobbled together by a small group of students - nothing like the work force we have on board now. it featured gloomy oil paintings, love poems, and explorative lithograph prints.

 

This Fall semester, we have the honor to publish the 100th edition of the Great Lake Review.

 

To celebrate 52 years of creativity, hard work, and joy, we at The Great Lake Review would like to invite past published writers and artists, as well as staff, to submit new work for publishing in this historic edition.

Alumni interested in submissions are asked to follow the same guidelines as current students as listed above, and can submit any work through the link provided below. Please do not submit work to the main submission form at the top of the page.
